Nationally, Sigma Nu was founded in 1869 on the principles of Love, Truth, and Honor, with a firm opposition to hazing. Sigma Nu was colonized at JMU in 1972 and later chartered in 1974. The brothers of the Iota Delta chapter of Sigma Nu invite you to experience one of the greatest organizations here at James Madison University. Its purpose is to develop all men to be ethical leaders on campus and Sigma Phi Epsilon - Rank Sigma chi and KA normally have a pretty good mix. ![]() However, it is not meant to simply orient you to membership as a Sigma Nu. Dont be worried if you find that frat parties at JMU arent your thing. The Sigma Nu LEAD program is the finest fraternity education program in the Greek world. Our program is called LEAD, an acronym for Leadership, Ethics, Achievement and Development. Brothers from Sigma Nu have shaped countless aspects of our country today and are found in prominent leadership positions in the fields of business, entertainment, military, athletics, and government just to name a few. We were founded over140 years ago, living our three core ideals of Love, Honor and Truth. Sigma Nu is an international fraternity spanning the United States and Canada, with over 180 active chapters and over 160,000 living alumni. Leadership is useless when it is kept in a bottle. Rather, we encourage our members to learn how to lead and then join other organizations to help those organizations become even stronger. Sigma Nu doesn't want its members to develop as leaders solely to benefit Sigma Nu. These weekly events provide a way of meeting new people, strengthening relationships, and enjoying the company of sororities. Social events are one of the most exciting aspects of our fraternity. While this is true, we definitely like to have fun. Sigma Nu excels in academics, strives for greater brotherhood within our chapter, and actively participates in the Harrisonburg Community. Sigma Nu is not just four years, it’s for life. From simply studying for a midterm to being the Best Man in a brother’s wedding, this bond lasts a life time.
